Paramjit Singh

Paramjit Singh is an Indian artist. He was born in Amritsar, India. Currently he lives in New Delhi, India. Singh is married to fellow painter Arpita Singh, with whom he had a daughter, the artist Anjum Singh. He earned his Bachelors and PhD in Fine Arts from Delhi Polytechnic in 1958 and 1962, respectively.

Singh had his first solo show at the Triveni Gallery, New Delhi, in 1967, and has had numerous solo exhibitions since, including Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi (2022, 2010, 2007); Talwar Gallery, New York (2014); the City Art Center, Hong Kong (2012); the Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh (2009); the Centre for International Modern Art (CIMA), Kolkata (2009); Bodhi Art, Singapore (2008); and Grosvenor Vadehra, London (2007), among others.

In 1970, he went on to receive the National Award from the Lalit Kala Akademi, shortly after which he worked in print-making in Oslo, Norway, for a few years. He has served as a researcher, professor and honored professor emeritus at Jamia Milia University, New Delhi.
